For teenage friends Jimmy and Rose, summer is time to while away the long days by making up fantastic stories about the tourists in their tiny seaside town outside Dublin. However, this summer is different. The circus comes to town. And so does a beautiful, mysterious woman – a woman who awakens in Jimmy an obsessive love.
